Digital images of the retinae are captured using the very latest nidek nm 1000 fundus camera installed at both practices. Digital manipulation of the photograph allows further in-depth analysis of the central retina, and is crucial in picking up miniscule pathology such as dot haemorrhages and microaneurysms. Retinal photography can reveal early signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma and macular degeneration. One of the main advantages of retinal photography is that the images can be stored on file for future comparison. Not only does this enables us to detect any new changes on the retina but also allows us to monitor existing pathology.
Digital images are taken at every sight test. No extra charge is made for this service.
